So, There's That.

10 Day OFF Challenge- Day 8

8. Create a food dish/mixed drink based on a character.

A nice, foaming bottle of meat, right from the fountains. “Refleshing!”

Alright, alright. It’s really a mikshake made with ice cream, red velvet cake, and sugar-based blood substitute. The pictures don’t really get across just how chunky it is.

A thousand thanks to Skvlk for making the label!

10 Day OFF Challenge— Day 7

7. Illustrate/write about/etc. your favorite song from the soundtrack- especially consider the mood of the song.

Well since there doesn’t seem to be a rule about what I’m supposed to write, so I’d just like to talk about why i picked the song I did, which is Panic in Ballville.

I think the placement of it is why I feel the need to talk about it more than my other favorite songs. Zone 3 marked the turning point where the background music became quite dismal, which continued into the rest of the game— if I’m honest, the background music in The Room actually messes with my head a bit. Panic in Ballville isn’t even a very happy song when you listen to it on its own, but after one’s spent so much time getting used to harsh and upsetting BGM, this area’s music sounds wonderfully uplifting. One can even get the same effect when listening to the soundtrack in order (which I do).Not to mention, it’s quite a bit better than it had to be; even though it was only in a couple minutes of gameplay, it’s a well-made and dynamic track. This is one of the few cases when I enjoy having a song stuck in my head.

My other favorites are Unreasonable Behavior, Pepper Steak, and Fake Orchestra, but I don’t think I need to explain why those are awesome.

there’s this idea in our culture that cynicism is realistic? that only children believe in happy endings, that people are ultimately selfish and greedy and seeing with clear eyes means…

Has Anyone Encountered a Problem Like This?

I’ve had something going on with Photoshop for maybe a year. I usually don’t try to bring my personal problems onto my blog, but now that I’m actually trying to color, this has become rather stifling.

This problem has to do with painting color on certain layers (though it affects the pencil tool as well). Painting does not effect anything on other layers, as it should. However, if I try painting over something on the same layer…

…It passes through the other color(s), turning if white or grey. (This only shows up if they are two different colors, though). It has been doing this for as long as I can recall. I don’t think I ever changed most of the settings from the default.

Does anyone know why this would be?

10 Day OFF Challenge— Day 6

Alright, I’ve been putting this one off for weeks. Let’s do this.

6. Expand the universe- design a Zone, characters, shape a new plot-

I brought it up a bit in the last entry, but I’ll iterate now that I am quite fascinated by the Apocalyptic Flashback near the end of the game. I had ideas for some pseudo-zones that could exist in the wasted world, as well as a few tenacious fellows to go on adventures and meet inevitably horrible ends.

I misplaced a good deal the sketches and notes I made, though, but I didn’t want to make an entry like this without some kind of visual. As such, I hereby present a rather scribbly rendition of the Valley Complex, a hastily built series of bunkers that ended up flooded with toxic smoke. image

I can’t make an info dump on Angels because there’s too much I’d have to omit, but I will let it be known that every single joint in their body means precisely fuck all and remains perfectly useable when reversed or disconnected and thus watching them move around if they’re doing this can be hilariously confusing as best and fucking disturbing at worst.

It can also make melee combat with one a pain because it’s basically impossible to predict or calculate their movements.

So, I don’t know the story behind this character, but I know enough to say that this is one of the sweetest ideas I’ve seen in a humanoid angel.

See, I use my art to answer important questions. Questions like “how do I make this grass stain look like it was intentional?” or “What if Dedan had more teeth?”
I’m finally back home, so I again have free time and a scanner. This is just a shoddy phone picture I took on-the-go, but I have scribbles and 10-Day Challenge entries coming soon.

Sorry I haven’t posted anything for a while. It will probably be a while more.
